How To Network: For Introverts

December 7th, 2006 · No Comments

There are few this I dislike more than networking. The thought of going into a room full of strangers makes me wish my arm gets chopped off so I could go to the hospital instead. Even profressional association meetings, where we share a common interest, make me uncomfortable.

Robert May, an introvert himself has posted some helpful tips at Businesspundit. How To Network: For Introverts gives seven lessons that can help introvert get a handle on networking. Who knows, you might even become comfortable with it, or not.

  • Networking is an investment, not a nuisance.
  • At first, you have to kiss a lot of frogs.
  • Don’t spend too much time on it.
  • Do cool things.
  • Invite people to lunch.
  • Go regularly to things you like.
  • Analyze your results.
  • Find the key nodes in the network.
  • Don’t network just for the sake of networking.
